JULY TRIATHLON NEWSLETTER
1. THE BRIEFING:
Multi-sport challenges in july
Training for a triathlon during the summer of 2026 requires careful preparation and the ability to adapt to hot weather conditions. Record-breaking heatwaves have significantly impacted outdoor sporting events around the world. IRONMAN Nice (France), for example, has had to implement emergency medical measures in response to extreme heat. This serves as a reminder that adapting to weather conditions is just as important as building fitness and refining technique when it comes to training and racing safely.
In this month's newsletter, Sunrise Events Vietnam invites you to explore practical insights and science-based principles that can help your body adapt to hot weather, allowing you to train safely and maintain your performance throughout the summer.

2. SWIM GUIDE
How to master the sighting technique when open water swimming under the glaring summer sun?
To sight more effectively in open water without disrupting your body position, lift your eyes just above the surface using the "crocodile eyes" technique, then turn your head to breathe. 220 Triathlon also recommends wearing mirrored swim goggles to help protect your eyes from intense UV rays reflected off the water during hot summer conditions.

3. BIKE ZONE
How do core strength exercises help prevent back pain when cycling under the hot sun?
Hot weather and dehydration can accelerate muscle fatigue. Maintaining an aerodynamic riding position for extended periods also places greater demands on your core and back muscles, increasing the risk of lower back discomfort and reducing cycling efficiency.
Please add the following 2 exercises to your weekly schedule:

4. RUN CLUB & RACE FUEL
What is the optimal Brick training and Nutrition strategy to adapt to high temperatures?
During Brick workouts in hot conditions, intentionally slow your running pace instead of trying to maintain your target pace. According to six-time IRONMAN World Champion Mark Allen, as the temperature rises, your heart rate may increase by 5–10 beats per minute even when running at the same pace. Rather than focusing solely on your watch, pay attention to how your body feels and adjust your training intensity accordingly.
At the same time, follow the nutrition dosage chart below for each hour of activity according to recommendations from top IRONMAN athletes:
