2024 Bim Group Ironman 70.3 Phu Quoc: A Global Stage For Elite Athletes And Community Impact in Vietnam

  • The second edition of the BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc promises an inspiring gathering of over 1,500 athletes, with events from November 15-17, including the Newborns Vietnam Run Out, Water Safety and Lifeguard training, and the family-friendly SUNRISE SPRINT Viet nam and IRONKIDS Phu Quoc. The weekend culminates with the IRONMAN 70.3 main event on Sunday morning.

  • 40% of participants hail from international locations, marking a 20% increase from the inaugural edition and reinforcing the appeal of Phu Quoc Island and the host venue, Phu Quoc Marina Integrated Resort Complex.

  • Six-time IRONMAN World Champion Mark Allen and Malaysian Hall of Fame athlete Yee Sze Mun will elevate the event’s prestige as they share their experiences and inspire the next generation of triathletes in Vietnam.

Recognizing Phu Quoc’s potential as a global sports destination, the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang Province and Phu Quoc City fully support this annual IRONMAN 70.3 event, organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam in partnership with naming rights sponsor BIM Group. 

Scheduled for November 15-17, 2024, with the main IRONMAN 70.3 race on November 17, the event will take place at Phu Quoc Marina Integrated Resort Complex - a world-class resort and entertainment complex offering a diverse range of international standard products and services. Developed by BIM Group, it brings together world-renowned resort brands such as Regent, InterContinental, and Sailing Club, all conveniently located in the heart of the island.

Athletes from over 61 countries will compete in a 1.9km swim, a 90km bike ride, and a 21.1km run, testing endurance against the island’s striking coastal backdrop.

The event’s emphasis on sustainability aligns with global movements toward responsible tourism. The organizing team is collaborating with local leaders on Water Safety and Lifeguard training for residents and hospitality staff, while the Newborns Vietnam Run Out charity event raises awareness of preventable health risks. Through these activities, BIM Group and Sunrise Events Vietnam are setting new standards for community engagement.

The event offers 30 qualifying slots to the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Marbella, Spain, set for November 8-9, 2025.
